Tesco

Why are Tesco doing this?

Managers at Tesco have communicated to their employees that health screens are a great start to understanding their health risks but actioning the next steps can be difficult without support.

Tesco’s Occupational Health identified smoking as an essential health factor / determinant, hence:

  • Quitting smoking is the highest priority next step that Tesco employees can take to improve their immediate health, highlighting that half of all regular cigarette smokers will eventually be killed by their habit
  • Offered all employees to attend Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking session in most major cities of the UK Free of Charge (the cost of the programme will be paid for in its entirety by Tesco’s Occupational Health)
  • Employees who want to stop smoking are encouraged to take part in group sessions, whilst also being offered 2 booster sessions as part of the package, should further support be required to stop smoking
